Controlling Noise (Mobile operations)

If you have an abnormal noise problem, the chances are that your vehicle is itself the problem.

A Transciever is a very sensitive piece of equipment, able to pick up small noise signals and amplify them - particularly if the source of the signal is within a few feet of the transciever.

Any noise heard on your transciever almost certainly originates from outside the radio itself, common belief that the FM Mode creates much of the noise heard is false and misleading.

There are some simple, quick remedies for many of the most common problems with regard to the eradication of noise from your transciever reception, which will provide a much more pleasant means of operation.

A very common source of noise when a transciever is used for MOBILE Operation is: The IGNITION SYSTEM - check this by ensuring that the Transciever is connected to the Accessory portion of the Main power system, such as the Cigarette lighter, switch the Ingnition to the ACC position, if the noise disappears then you do have an Ignition noise problem.

The Interference is normally divided in to 2 categories, more commonly both are at fault, (vehicles are not normally designed with transcievers in mind,)
