Extending the Recieve coverage of the Icom IC-4SE

I am given to understand that the following MOD will work with the Models

IC-4SE, IC-4SA, IC-2SE, IC-2SA

It is possible to extend the receiver coverage of Icom without removing the covers!

Caution! before continuing, please note to reset to normal all memories will be erased including Duplex Settings and Frequency Steps

How to Extend the Recieve

With the Radio Switched OFF, but BEEP enabled, hold down LIGHT, FUNC and V/M buttons while turning the Radio ON, Hold all 3 buttons.

The display will fill up with all sections on, HOLD for 10 Seconds, Then Release.

What you Get!

NOW, you now have a display coverage of any freq from 0 to 1300 MHz, except, of course, that the VCO cannot cover the entire range. the Effective frequencies of the Icom IC-4SE will vary slightly from radio to radio but as a guide the Icom IC-4SE will cover approximately 380-480Mhz plus 805-930MHz.

When outside the Amatuer Bands the PTT is Disabled (Transmit is not Possible, but Users of this Handheld maybe interested to know that you do NOT need to make any Hardware adjustments or remove a single screw from the radio.

All Frequecies between 430.000Mhz and 440.000Mhz will operate as Normal without any problem of broadbanding as with the Hardware modifications.

Reset Proedure

Resetting is not really neccessary unless you are returning the radio under guarantee to the dealer?

To Reset to Normal use the Standard RESET Procedure With Radio Switched OFF, Press and Hold LIGHT and MONITOR, and Switch, ON The CPU will be RESET and All memories Cleared

All the Radio's Display will show frequencies from 0 - 1300 mhz but only the legal amateur frequencies will be available for TX, I have not tried this mod on the 2m radio's but I understand that it does work, but freqs for RX are different.
